Goricko is one of the most agrarian landscapes in Slovenia even though the natural conditions for farming are unfavorable. The landscape is hilly and steep, the soil is acidic and poorly fertile and the climate is relatively dry. In order to work with these inconveniences, the farmers of Gori?ko have had to innovate in their way of farming.

This has sculpted the landscape of Gori?ko with a large fragmentation of the agricultural land. In fact, the fields are located on the slopes, in order to receive water and sunlight in the best way possible.

For this landscape analysis, we decided to compare, with the same process, three different areas in Goricko in a way to show how the people use and modified this landscape. These uses are the representation of this cultural heritage of the «living with the earth» and ask the question with the relation that we have with the landscape.

The topology of the region makes some places arduously accessible and creates difficulty to cultivate some pieces of land in opposition to a flat landscape. These irregularities have been modeling the diversity and the originality of the landscape of Goricko. In fact, agriculture in flat areas is easily organized and creates massive fields.

Here in Goricko the farmers have been occupying the ground as they could and this has been impacting the landscape. Indeed, the fields are smaller and scattered all around the slopes of the region.
